Evaluation...
All of the planning for the show has been done, the printing has been sent, the branding is done, information and portfolio links have been sent to all the respective people all thats left it the actual show. Myself and gina are going to hand out the remaining invites around Brighton on both days of the show in order to drum up some extra people. Ollie and I are also the first shift on the door on the first day but I am planning on arriving for about 11 to help set up the show.
My contributions to the show overall
Contributed heavily to the name discussion,
Contributed heavily to the discussion regarding how the branding should look after our poster pitch
Produced a branding poster to be used for the show.
Produced branding poster colour variations- with the help of Chloe Honeysett and (Gina Allen as an additional judge) used on the invites
Produced a logo design to be used within the show reel and the invites
Gave Gina Allen pieces of work that could be tweeted about on the twitter page.
Helped briefly with the printing of the invites mostly providing simple tweaking points
Paid in £30.00
Went with Connor to the print shop to get work printed (numerous trips and discussions in order to get work organised)
Contributed to discussions with the BA's (about the branding, what needs to be done with the show)
Sent Alessandro information for the group website
Sent Connor Brochure information (sadly we scrapped the brochure)
Overall I think I have pulled my weight with the show branding and I am very confident that it will go well. After much stress, lots of designing and a few arguments I think the show is at a point where its as ready as its going to be. Im hoping that for the show we can all band together and try and pull it off without a hitch!
Copyright...
In order to understand the business design world copyright must me understood so here is my brief understanding of copyright that I have tried to bear in mind when designing.
Copyright Law- A form of protection- it protects the designers/creators right to that work, it should stop other people from stealing your work.
It protects, Books, Music, Artwork, Films, Software and Typography.
Copyright does not protect anything intangible ideas and phrases or principles aren't subject to copyright although various patents may protect them.
Copyright does supposedly restrict creative dispersal because it runs for a long time which means that ideas are not being expanded upon.
In order to get around copyright owners can give permission or be paid by companies which would give that company rights to reproduce what is created. If neither can be attained, then it is only when the creator has been dead for 70 years that it becomes public domain.
Fair Use
Fair use is not a law, its a set of guidelines but it can be used as a defence to copyright.
Works can be reproduced or come under fair use- when used for education, news reporting, teaching, parody and research but it cannot change the works value in the market.
Original owners should be credited if anything is used.
Limitations
The amount of work borrowed, its commercial use (profit of non profit) and the nature the of copyrighted work (if it is transformative) are all components that display the limitations of fair use.
Creative Commons License
This is the license that I have placed upon my work on the behance page. My work can be shared but it cannot be altered or reproduced in any way.

CV...
I have created a CV as a part of my self promotion, after looking at a few design cvs on the internet I decided to give my CV a bit of design flair by making the background blue and using the same font choice that I had on my personal postcards. The content below is what I have put on my CV, I have mostly tried to talk about my design strengths and have tried to make my work experience relate to media.
PROFILE
PROFILE
I am currently a second year Digital Media Design student at Brighton University, I am aiming to achieve my BA degree by 2015.
I am an incredibly creative person, I love to draw; illustration is my number one passion and I am very enthusiastic about making fun and quirky designs. I come from an artistic background so I am well versed in traditional methods of design but I mostly use Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects to create my work. I am very much inspired by music- particularly when animating and it has a big impact on my design style. I try to keep things as quirky and original as possible. Pattern and hand-drawn designs are my speciality.
MEDIA EXPERIENCE
I currently organise emails and blog post updates for Comic Domain which has given me a good knowledge of Mail chimp and Wordpress. As my first official design related job it has also since given me insight into the business side of the design sector as well as communicative tools to be used when speaking to a client.
During one of our university projects we had to work with a live client: Latest TV. I produced an animated opening sequence with stings for the channel. This has helped to develop my client communicative tools and given me insight in how designing for a client works.
I volunteered at the Reasons to be Creative design conference September 2013 which not only gave me great insight into some brilliant design minds but also helped to develop organisational team skills.
WORK EXPERIENCE
I currently work at Co-op and have learnt how to converse with people and am fully till trained.
EDUCATION
GCSEs- Willigdon Community College- 2005-2012
I have achieved 11 GCSE's at A*-A
A Levels- Lewes College 2010-2012
English Literature- B
Fine Art-B
Photography- A*
FDA DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGN - Brighton University- 2012- present
YR One- A+
YR Two- Pending
As CV's go I think im fairly happy with it - although I would like to take the time at some point to brand myself- which I plan on doing once Ive really cemented my style.
Printing...
So Connor and I took a visit to the print shop and have organised to have everything in our class and show branding posters printed- the BA's have agreed to print their own stuff since they need to figure out their sizes.
Also we have been told that the maximum we have to pay in for the show now is £30.00 so I now dont need to pay anything more in.

Brochure Content...
Connor created a nice little table to organise Brochure content, which I have filled out as pictured below.
I had a lot of trouble trying to write my profile paragraph- so I settled on short and sweet (I looked at other examples on the phoenixtrading cards website) Most of these artists were promoting the company but they did have short introductory mini paragraphs from which I took inspiration- I mostly opted to show keen interest in design/illustration and tried to write an enthusiastic paragraph without too many personal details.

Submissions for the Show
So I have submitted my possible pieces to the show- I did this a while back but completely forgot to blog about it. In accordance to the brief we have to submit 2 possible print pieces and 2 motion graphics. We have been told that our motion graphics work will most likely get in the show reel anyway so neither of these are my first choice.
2 motion graphics
I really love my latest Tv world I definitely think that its one of my best pieces of motion graphics.
This is the actually the second to last version of my game promo- I couldnt find the original file with the larger text (since I exported it out at the wrong format I had to go back and re-export it at H.264). However its only a minor tweak thats missing it doesn't effect the work itself- although due to this fact its the second choice for my motion graphics pieces.
2 For print
My Cath Kidston print is one that I am exceptionally proud of and I'm definitely happy with this as a print- my only concern is that the design might appear a little too delicate and not be as impacting in the space. For this reason I plan on submitting this image as brochure content since I think it will work on a smaller scale.
I have made a Brighton Lights poster using my Latest TV Graphics- I had to edit it a little bit in order to make it the correct size since it was previously very tiny. This meant redoing the background- which is why its a little darker than in the Latest TV motion graphics adn resizing the main image. Thankfully my main design was in Illustrator so it could be resized to whatever and I only had to add a grain and additional contrast to make it work. I also had to convert to cmyk- which has made the design a little paler- but I have been told that the printer will be able to pick up all the colours and the more I look at it the more i forget the older version (so its probably only noticeable if you had both of the worlds side by side). This is my first print choice and one that I intend to give to Connor to send to the printers.

My Postcards
So my postcards arrived! Printed by moo- really excellent quality and I am very very happy with them! I opted to cut a box in half and cover it in paper to create some kind of holder for them (I have no idea if we will get table space but this seemed like the simplest option). I have attached my teabags to the back with paperclips (I was originally planning on using pegs but paperclips ended up being more sturdy) my only criticism is that they sit funny when laid flat which is why I came up with my box idea I am just hoping that there will be somewhere to put it. I have 50 postcards all in all so i'll probably put half in on the first day and then the other half in the second.
